Domain name internet lock
Log into your account
and click the Registration Lock link to lock your domain
name. This will stop other registars from using several fraudulent
methods to transfer your domain name over to their system.
Some domain registration companies send out misleading renewal
notices via email and mail ( Many people have been tricked
into given permission to transfer their domain names to a
third party when they thought they were actually renewing
their domain name) . Because the billing contact is required
to be public information, it is a simple matter for them to
find this information. Some of these companies make unauthorized
transfers of your domain (slamming or hijacking), and locking
protects you against any unauthorized activity.
This fraudulent activity is a problem with all registars.
The issue does not lie with our system - our system meets
and exceeds the standards for domain security. As with any
computer-driven platform, though, there are always ways for
fraudulent, unscrupulous agents to find loopholes as mentioned
above.
This extra security is not required - our normal safeguards
exceed the standards required by ICANN. Unfortunately, the
industry standards are not enough to protect against the above
aforementioned types of fraud.
You can STOP all this with domain locking.
When locking is enabled for a domain, any requests to transfer
the domain to another registrar or hosting company will automatically
fail-only the owner for a domain can enable/disable locking.
Domain Locking is charged at $1 per year.
